Five years before the heinous terrorist attacks on 9/11, the Taliban had taken control of most of Afghanistan led by their leader Mullah Omar.  Upon seizing control of the country the Taliban used the informal and unmonitored financial system to move money not only throughout Afghanistan and Pakistan, but to countries around the world as well. To achieve this goal the Taliban utilized a man who Interpol would later term as ‘The Taliban’s Bank’. For over two decades the man and his sons would transfer the equivalent of $5 Billion USD of narco-terrorist money around the globe, generated in great part by the heroin and hashish trade.

In 2020 the now CEO of our company, assisted by a team of U.S. Intelligence Analysts, U.S. Special Operations Forces, and host nation counterparts, conducted simultaneous raids around Afghanistan and arrested the patriarch and his five sons who collectively made up ‘The Taliban’s Bank’.

The dismantlement of this terrorist finance group was achieved through the use of various intelligence gathering techniques, some classified and some unclassified, to include Open-Source Intelligence (OSINT).  Using OSINT, the team was able to positively identify and track the location of the eldest son via one of his Social Media profiles and posts as he traveled in and out of the region. OSINT proved invaluable and was a major component to the success of the months-long operation dubbed ‘Green Kandahar’. While no operation will bring closure to the families who lost loved ones in the attacks of 9/11, it held accountable those who profited from Taliban rule and who assisted Bin Laden within Afghanistan.
